I bought the earlier model LG 27UL840-W back in 2020 and I quickly became a fan of this monitor series. 4K resolution makes everything crisp and sharp. The colors are really good and the deep blacks are almost OLED levels. The sound is also quite good. I've been using this monitor everyday as my main monitor for 4 years now, and I love using it for browsing the internet, and for watching streaming videos.
I also connected my Steam Deck to this monitor, and so far, it's great for the games I play. This monitor provides 4K video at 60 Hz. Some games are okay at that refresh rate, but for others, like first person shooters, you might benefit from a gaming-specific monitor that offers higher refresh rates.
The only downside of this model is that the power delivered by the USB-C connector is not enough for some laptops.
This is why getting this newer model was a no-brainer. This model is an iterative improvement. But basically staying the same. I got this new monitor for my office laptop when I need to work from home. So far, it's great for this purpose.
