Description

All hands on deck for an island-hopping adventure starring Mario and Luigi!

The brothers return for a brand new adventure on the high seas! Set sail with Mario and Luigi on Shipshape Island (part ship, part island) and journey through the vast world of Concordia. Launch out of Shipshape’s cannon to visit, explore, and quest your way through islands that range from tropical rainforests to bustling cities.

  • Meet new friends along the way, like Connie and Snoutlet (who's definitely not a pig), and encounter familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom like Peach and Bowser, who may help you on your journey!
  • You’ll have to rely on Mario and Luigi’s brotherly bond to succeed. Use Bros. Moves to get past obstacles while you explore, and powerful Bros. Attacks in a dynamic twist on turn-based combat. You’ll need every edge this 'brothership' will give you to save the day!

Brothership first impressions

Rating: 4.6/5

Gameplay: It takes a spin of the original GBA game "Superstar Saga" and created something new and refreshing for both long-time and new players. With having more or less than 8 hours of gameplay, Brothership retained its M&L charm of witty, creative, and playful style of gameplay, as well as having impactful characters to help you progress the story. If you're a fan of BotW, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, this is the game for you!

Story: Taking the concept of "switches", "cords", and "plugs" as the basis of the lore, story, and gameplay is very interesting. Taking a simple concept and expanding upon it has been this series' bread and butter and I'm very pleased with the storytelling so far.

Combat mechanics: Unlike their previous games, Brothership re-invented their old combat mechanics and took on a new spin, and it took me a short while to get used to them as someone who was used to their old combat style. You eventually get used to it but this is something to note, as I still found myself pressing buttons that assimilate the old combat style.

Overall: Aside from getting used to their new combat system, I never got bored with the story and gameplay as I found myself playing for hours. Long-time players like me became very excited to see the series make a return, and I'm looking forward for their future releases!
